The Super-Antibody That Could Save You From Annual Flu Shots
—healthnews.com

An annual flu shot will no longer be necessary if doctors are correct in their predictions for the newly discovered “super-antibody.” Just imagine never having to stand in those long lines again.

According to a study published in the Science journal, an antibody called FI6 was able to attack groups 1 and 2 of the influenza A virus. New vaccines for the seasonal flu come out every year, but none of them have ever been able to fight off both groups. Therefore, doctors predict that this antibody will allow them to create a universal, long-term vaccine within the next five years.

Why Use a Staffing Agency?
—Demand Media

Most businesses can use an extra set of hands to handle a big project or a new surge in business. But most are also reluctant to hire full-time staff. A staffing agency can provide temporary employees to help with a wide variety of business tasks. Working closely with the staffing agency, a hiring manager can ensure that temporary workers possess the needed skills, education and experience to meet the needs of the company.

Andrew Watts
Senior Account Executive, Lab Support

Andrew joined our Lab Support Warrington branch in October 2008. In his current role as Senior Account Executive, he is able to combine his scientific education with his career background in sales to more fully serve our client base in this northwest UK area.

Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Liverpool and also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Agriculture Economics from Reading University.

Prior to joining Lab Support, Andrew worked in a variety of business development roles in the business-to-business sector – mainly in the media field, including publishing, exhibitions, and Web-based client sales. Many of these had the added excitement of new product launches.

Day to day Andrew focuses on business development that includes differentiating the Lab Support brand and building successful relationships within his territory. He also keeps up to date with local business intelligence as their branch has experienced a lot of activity with start-up SMEs. Andrew is an active member of most of the local scientific and technical networking groups as well as an active networker at local science campuses and relevant exhibitions. He also regularly attends many incubator facility events in the area.

Andrew appreciates being able to tailor his focus to the local market within a large organization such as Lab Support. Recently he had the chance to meet some of the U.S. Lab Support team at the 2011 BIO International Convention held in Washington, DC, which he really enjoyed.

When Andrew isn’t working, he’s keen on keeping fit and has joined a local triathlon club to improve his cycling, swimming, and running performance. He’s also completed a few half marathons with his wife – it gives them a bit of a break from their two teenage daughters who are 16 and almost 18.
